Store Bought Flaky Pastry
Store-bought pastry is convenient because it saves time and effort compared to making pastry from scratch. Here are some key reasons why:
Time-Saving: Preparing pastry from scratch, especially for things like puff pastry or pie crust, can be time-intensive. Store-bought options are ready to use.
Consistent Quality: Pre-made pastry is produced under controlled conditions, ensuring consistent texture and taste.
Ease of Use: It’s usually pre-rolled or comes in a manageable format, making it easy to shape and use for various recipes.
Wide Availability: Many types of pastry (e.g., puff, shortcrust, phyllo) are available in most grocery stores, catering to different needs.
Reduced Cleanup: With no flour-dusted counters or mixing bowls to clean, it simplifies kitchen cleanup.
What type of pastry do I use.
In New Zealand I use the Pam’s brand store bought blocks.
I prefer the blocks as it minimises waste. There is only the outer packing on this block. Unlike the pre rolled pastry that has many unnecessary plastic wrap.
