The Best Fudgy Chocolate Icing Recipe
Equipment
- 1 Pot
- 1 Wooden spoon or dough whisk
- 1 Sieve or sifter
- 1 bent palette knife
- 1 Tablespoon
- 1 Measuring cups
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp melted butter (45 grams)
- 3 tbsp cocoa
- 3 tbsp castor sugar
- 3 tbsp water
- 1½ cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
Instructions
- Place the melted butter, cocoa, castor sugar and water in a pot and place on a low heat. Bring to a rolling boil.
- Prepare the icing sugar by sifting it into a plate.
- Take off the heat and add the icing sugar. Beat using your wooden spoon or dough whisk until the Ising is smooth and glossy.
- Pour over your cake and use your palette knife to smooth the icing over the cake. It will set quickly so move fast.
- Once set, use a hot knife to cut the cake. Run under a hot water tap between slices to ensure a clean slice.
Delicious icing…I have made the same icing for years, but this is even easier and a nice change.
