The Best Fudgy Chocolate Icing Recipe

The chocolate icing recipe that you didn't know you needed.

Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Wooden spoon or dough whisk
  • 1 Sieve or sifter
  • 1 bent palette knife
  • 1 Tablespoon
  • 1 Measuring cups

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp melted butter (45 grams)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa
  • 3 tbsp castor sugar
  • 3 tbsp water
  • cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)

Instructions

  • Place the melted butter, cocoa, castor sugar and water in a pot and place on a low heat. Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Prepare the icing sugar by sifting it into a plate.
  • Take off the heat and add the icing sugar. Beat using your wooden spoon or dough whisk until the Ising is smooth and glossy.
  • Pour over your cake and use your palette knife to smooth the icing over the cake. It will set quickly so move fast.
  • Once set, use a hot knife to cut the cake. Run under a hot water tap between slices to ensure a clean slice.
