A bottle of your favourite wine is nice as a gift, but how much more special is it when someone gifts you a homemade bottle of something alcoholic and refreshingly good.
Here are my five top favourite recipes (including a few of my own) to make for a friend.
1 Elderflower Infused Gin
“This is a very fun and easy way to infuse gin with a fresh summer flavour. You do not use an expensive gin. Just a moderately priced one will do the job.”
Gift this drink in a clearly labelled bottle so that it is not confused for cordial. You could include in your gift a packet of reusable straws and a few bottle of flavour infused tonic water.

2 Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
“Our Homemade Baileys Irish Cream recipe is a deliciously creamy alcoholic drink that takes just 5 minutes and 6 ingredients to make! The perfect homemade gift for family and friends.“
We were gifted a bottle of this last Christmas and it was incredibly delicious! Clearly label your bottles so that everyone knows there is alcohol, and include instructions on how to serve it. Ideas might include; pour over ice, or add a glug to your afternoon coffee.

3 Elderflower Infused Vodka
“This is a very fun and tasty way to infuse vodka with a fresh summer flavour“
Gift this drink in a reused glass bottle. Make sure to wash and sterilise the bottles first. Clearly label the bottle so that no-one mistakes it for cordial, and gift with a glass bottle of flavour infused soda water. Make sure to include in the label for your friend to find a relaxing spot under a tree to drink this over summer.

4 Christmas Punch
“Drinks for one, and you have a nice evening to yourself. Drinks for two or three, and it’s happy hour. A WHOLE BOWL of sparkling Christmas Punch? We have ourselves a party!”
This may not be an easy gift to bottle up, but if you are invited to a summer barbecue then I believe this drink would be well received.

5 Rhubarb Gin
“This homemade rhubarb gin is so delicious and easy to make! Fresh (or frozen) rhubarb is steeped in gin until flavoured to your liking.”
I know I have also included this in my top ten gifts to make for Christmas, but it really is that good and with rhubarb growing nearly all year round, you are not constructed to just summer to make this delicious alcoholic drink.
